Star Ruby

Star Ruby is a variety of corundum (aluminum oxide) that exhibits a star-like phenomenon called asterism when viewed in direct light. This typically occurs in stones that have inclusions of rutile needles that intersect to form a star pattern on the surface of the cabochon. Star Rubies are among some of the most valuable and cherished gemstones.
